Vinyasa/Restorative - with Janya Wongsopa
Sundays, 4:30-6:00pm
A juicy blend of gentle Vinyasa sequences and Restorative practice is a perfect way to end your weekend. The class begins with creative flow movements using the rhythm of breath as your guide to unblock physical and subtle energy followed by long held poses using yoga props, such as blankets and blocks. Restorative yoga has subtle effects on the body’s chemical balance and promotes healthy function of the nervous system which can help chronic conditions such as migraine headaches, insomnia and stress/anxiety.
About the instructor:
Janya taught her first yoga class in 2005 at Intel Corporation without a formal training. After the class she knew that teaching yoga was part of her dharma, and since then, she has been teaching yoga regularly. Janya completed her teacher's training program in 2007 and received her certification as a yoga teacher from the Avalon Art and Yoga Center in Palo Alto.
In 2007, Janya also received a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist degree from the California College of Ayurveda and American Institute of Vedic Studies. In addition to teaching yoga, she maintains a private Ayurvedic consultation practice and owns “Ayurveda Ritual,” her line of Ayurvedic herbal remedies. She has studied Yin and Restorative yoga with Sarah Power and Judith Lasater, and classic yogic meditation at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm. Her teaching is an eclectic blend of her love for Vinyasa, yoga therapy and meditation, and a tribute to her on-going study with several gifted teachers.
